This is a discretionary service covering Canterbury and the surrounding villages, especially for those who are lonely or housebound; isolated through location, mobility or disability. After a visit by a support worker you will be assigned an experienced trained visitor, who will visit for 1 hour a week at a mutually decided time. The visits are solely for company and to check that all is well. The visitor will not be expected to do shopping, cleaning or other odd jobs. His or her time will be devoted purely to social conversation. However, if you do have any concerns or problems, these can be discussed briefly with the visitor who can make an appointment for a support worker to call to help you further.
